To calculate the thermal resistance (R Value) the lambda value (λ) of the product and the thickness of the material is required. The lambda value is the thermal conductivity of a material. Each material has its own thermal conductivity. The lower the value, the better the material insulates.
EcoTherm® insulation has a lambda value of just 0.022 – 0.027 W/mk.
For example:
By using an 100 mm thick board you can achieve a thermal resistance (R value) of 4.55m2K/W .
To achieve the same value with traditional insulation you may require up to 200mm thickness of insulation.
