Cavity Wall
There is always a practical limitation to the width of a cavity in masonry wall construction. This limitation requires the thinnest possible insulation material in order to continue to provide an acceptable cavity which will inhibit the passage of rain water to the inner skin. This is in addition to providing sufficient thermal resistance to allow masonry walls to meet the building regulations.
