EcoTherm® launches all-in-one thermal laminate solution. Leading thermal insulation manufacturer EcoTherm® has launched a time-saving laminate board for dry lining solid masonry walls in new or refurbished buildings – Eco Liner. By factory bonding polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation to plasterboard, EcoTherm® now offers a convenient all-in-one solution that helps to meet thermal and energy saving requirements and provides an interior wall surface ready for decoration. Eco Liner can be used on solid and cavity walls and may also be used for loft conversions and ceilings.
EcoTherm® has announced two versions of the laminate product, both based on 1,200mm wide 12.5mm tapered edge plasterboard. Foil-faced PIR for mechanical fixing to masonry and steel or timber studs – Eco Liner Fix, and tissue-faced PIR for fixing to masonry with adhesive dabs –Eco Liner Dab. Depending on the extent of their use, the boards could be used for all or part of the target U-value calculation for residential walls – currently defined in the Building Regulations as 0.3W/m2K.
Once installed, the tapered edge boards are taped and jointed in the normal manner, leaving a surface ready for final decoration.
Dale Kaszycki, EcoTherm® Marketing Manager, says the PIR/plasterboard laminates deliver maximum insulation into minimum thickness, so they do not compromise room dimensions. “This makes them ideal for upgrading typical small terraced houses to modern thermal standards,” he says.
Eco Liner boards are easy to handle, with the PIR adding only slightly to the weight of the plasterboard. By merging two processes, they halve the time needed for insulating and dry lining solid masonry walls. Dale Kaszycki says: “At the same time, they constitute a very green solution, ensuring new and older buildings comply with energy targets – good insulation keeps the heat inside, reducing overall demand for heating and CO2 emissions. PIR is free of both CFC and HCFC ingredients, and has zero ozone depletion potential, while plasterboard is increasingly made from recycled waste material and synthetic gypsum, which is itself a recycled material.”
With production facilities across Europe, and a brand new high-capacity line at its plant in Essex, EcoTherm® supplies its product range in the UK through insulation distributors and builders’ merchants nationwide
