EcoTherm launches FSC certified insulated deck panels

Insulation manufacturer EcoTherm has launched a new FSC certified (CU-COC-806092) Eco-Deck insulated decking board for flat roofs for residential and commercial buildings. The new Eco-Deck is a laminated sandwich construction comprising a urethane foam core with an aluminium foil inner-face and eco-timber ply deck on top. It gives users the twin benefits of time saving during fixing along with the reassurance of being manufactured from materials which are legally and sustainably produced.

FSC is the Forestry Stewardship Council, an international organisation that brings together companies in responsible forest management, logistics, and manufacturing. FSC certification ensures that all organisations in the Chain of Custody consistently operate to legal and sustainable standards. This is increasingly becoming a requirement for many large commercial and government contracts.

EcoTherm Technical manager Martin Oxley, explains, “We previously sold Eco-Deck with standard ply and we know that installers like it for providing both insulation and deck in one single fix. The urethane insulation core is CFC- and HCFC-free and is warranted to

be zero ozone depleting. By sourcing FSC supplied timber we can now satisfy the growing demand for sustainable products for eco building”.

EcoTherm’s new Eco-Deck boards have standard dimensions of 2400 x 1200mm and thicknesses up to 116mm according to insulation requirements. The rugged and effective Eco-Deck panels are easily fixed into place by nailing or screwing to joists or rafters. The deck then forms a surface ready for built-up felt, asphalt, or single ply membrane. When using asphalt it is recommended that a 12mm bitumen impregnated board is laid on the ply first to act as a heat sink.
